There are many organisations and external sources of information which can be used to help in informing and resourcing a curriculum for Citizenship and PSHE.
The most important sources to start with are those which outline statutory curriculum requirements; the the National Curriculum programme of study for Citizenship and the Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) statutory guidance. These outline the basic minimum entitlement which pupils must be afforded throughout their education, so these documents should be the first port of call when designing and curriculum, and revisited to ensure that all requirements are being met, and ideally exceeded.
It is also helpful to make use of the support offered by the subject associations. The Association for Citizenship Teaching supports the delivery of Citizenship education, providing resources, research journals and regular online training. The PSHE Association also offers resources and training opportunities to help with the teaching of PSHE education content.
Most of the units in the OAT curriculum include a signposting document, which features a range of sources of support which pupils and their parents or carers may wish to access. These organisations can also be a wealth of resources and information for teachers in preparation for delivering lessons.
The logos of each of the organisations are included to support familiarity and recognition, and the QR codes can be scanned with a smartphone to access the relevant website. These documents could be amended as required and added to your school’s website, to ensure that pupils are able to access relevant and accurate sources of information and support whenever needed; alternatively, they could be displayed in your classroom or along corridors to raise awareness.

As units are updated and added to this website, the individual signposting documents of each unit will also be added to the folder linked below.
